Five Warm, Cozy Tops You Need for Winter

Living in the Northeast I definitely get a taste of all the seasons, which I love.  However, the subarctic temps that we’ve had this winter have made me really evaluate items in my wardrobe that keep me feeling the warmest and coziest whether I’m just hanging out at home or going out!  If you are having the same struggle, I’ve gathered my top five coziest tops to share with you.  Here’s to all of us being warm and cozy all winter:

Barefoot dreams cardigan
You’ll be dreaming in this Barefoot Dreams cardigan!

Barefoot Dreams Circle Cardigan – I first heard about Barefoot Dreams on YouTube.  It is a line sold at Nordstrom and they make robes, sweaters and blankets that are supposed to be incredibly soft and warm.  I purchased the robe and the circle cardigan last year and I have to say that everything is TRUE!  I am always cold, year-round, and this is the only material that truly keeps me warm!  I wear the circle cardigan all the time and not only is it cute, but comfy and warm.  (It also washes really well!) If you don’t have anything by Barefoot Dreams I’d highly recommend it!  It is a bit spendy, but usually some of the items get marked down during Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale (end of summer).  There are many great colors available.  I have the color “Stone,” which is a neutral beige/cream.

Gap fringe cardigan
Stand out from the crowd in this Gap cardigan.

Gap Fringe open Cardigan – This was a recent find at the Gap and was marked down during one of the many after-holiday sales that have been going on.  It’s warm and comfy but also stylish.  I don’t like cardigans that look frumpy, and this one has a special twist with a little fringe detail that goes up and down the sweater.  You could dress it up if you wanted to but still stay warm and cozy!

This sweatshirt is feminine and cozy. Love the rose gold zipper!!

Athleta Cozy Karma Sweatshirt (only color left on website is black)- This sweatshirt is like a slice of heaven!  First can we talk about the beautiful wheat color and the rose gold zipper???  But let’s not stop there!  You have the beautiful criss-cross detail in the front and the back comes down long enough to cover your bum so they are great with leggings! Now for the cozy and warm part – there is a fuzzy fleece inside that is so nice around your neckline and in the sweatshirt.  This thing is WARM!  It also has the holes in the sleeve for your thumbs if you like to wear that way.  This sweatshirt is over $100 but I am really picky and am so happy with the quality and versatility of this piece.  I am already getting so much use out of it!

Athleta honeycomb sweater
This simple sweater from Athleta is so comfy!

Athleta Thermal Honeycomb sweater – I certainly have been doing some shopping at Athleta this season.  I am fairly new to the brand and am really impressed with the fit and quality of their clothes.  This split hem thermal sweater is perfect for lounging around the house or running errands in!  (It is also on SALE!)  It is long enough to wear with leggings but dressy enough so that you look put together.  Casual dressing doesn’t need to be sloppy to be comfortable!

There’s nothing cozier than a classic cowlneck in the softest material!

LOFT Cowlneck Top (similar) – I found a cozy cowlneck top recently at LOFT.  I’m not sure if mine is still available, but I found something similar on their website and it’s currently 60% off!  This material is not bulky, but so soft and cozy you could sleep in it!  You can wear it with pajama bottoms, leggings or jeans, whatever your mood or style!  Plus, I personally love a cowlneck.  I think it’s a classic, flattering style that is in fashion year after year!

So, I hope you have found some inspiration to be cozy and stylish all winter long!  Please share some of your favorites in the comments.  Let’s all help each other stay warm and comfy this season!

Review and Haul of New Target Clothing Lines – A New Day and Who What Wear

Have you been to Target lately?  They’ve recently launched some new clothing lines, and I have to say I am IN LOVE!    One line is called “A New Day” and it has a great blend of casual and office-appropriate attire.  The other is called “Who What Wear” and has similar, although overall I think this line is a little more geared toward office attire.  Both have plus sizes available too so there’s something for any body type.  I went a little crazy but got some awesome deals (like over-the-knee boots for $39.99!?!) and stocked up on great fall pieces.  Let me show you some of the great finds I made because if you are in the market for some new fall clothes, there are some great finds at Target!  And if you have the Target Red Card, you get an ADDITIONAL 5% off all of your purchases!

Target A New Day Poncho and Over the Knee Suede boots

Poncho sweater ($26.99)and Over the Knee Suede boots  ($39.99)

I love this sweater because it will keep you warm during the transitional weather and it looks so put together!  I just threw it over the striped shirt I had on and it instantly jazzes up the outfit (which can be worn with the black mules in warmer weather and the over the knee boots in the cooler weather).  It’s so versatile and the price is great!

I bought a pair of over-the-knee suede boots with a heel last winter and I can tell you I spent a whole lot more money on them.  However, I felt that a flat heel would be more wearable in my day-to-day life, so when I saw these at this fantastic price I had to get them, and I was not disappointed!  I will say that if you have larger calves then these are not for you.  They aren’t adjustable and are fitted around the calf area.  They do offer a wide size but I’m not sure how much extra room they provide.  They tie at the back which I like – I think it adds some interest to the boot. Also, to get the ideal look out of the boot, you need to wear really skinny jeans or leggings as the calf is not roomy to tuck in any excess material.  But, in my opinion, overall a great find.  They also come in a gray and camel color.  I wear a size 7 and they run true to size.

Target Who What Wear blouse and A New Day Mules

Striped Tie Waist Shirt ($27.99)and Mules ($29.99)

This shirt is from Who What Wear, and immediately caught my eye because of the tie waist detail that made it really unique.  It comes in blue and white stripe as well as the gray and white that I purchased.  I love that you could wear this on the weekends or to an office – it is so versatile!  I also threw a sweatshirt over it (see dragonfly sweatshirt below)  to create another look with it.  I have a size S and it runs true to size. The mules are from A New Day and are perfect into the mule trend this season.  They are in a black suede and are perfect for the transitional fall weather.

Target A New Day striped sweatshirt

Striped Sweatshirt ($19.99)

A lot of the pieces I have were ordered online, as my local Target rarely has a lot of clothing items in stock.  However, I stumbled upon this piece during one of my Target runs  – the material is so soft and cozy I just couldn’t resist.  I sized up to a M in this as it was a little shorter than I liked in the small.  I plan to wear it with jeans or leggings.

Beaded Dragonfly Sweatshirt ($24.99)

This was another item I happened to find in-store.  This sweatshirt is so warm and cozy but the beaded dragonfly makes it a little more interesting.  You can wear it alone, or layered over a shirt as I did in this picture.  As with the striped sweatshirt, I did size up to a M in this shirt as well.

Target A New Day BlazerBlazer  ($34.99)

I am really impressed with the quality of this blazer for the price.  It is long sleeved (I have it rolled up in the photo) and lined on the inside.  It gives a nice fit and I have it paired with a black cami and jeans.  This can easily be worn with a skirt or dress pants for an office environment as well.  I have it here in a size 6 and it runs true to size.

Target A New Day Ruffled Bomber jacket

Ruffled Bomber Jacket  ($29.99)

I know bomber jackets are very on trend right now, but when I saw this one with the beautiful ruffle detail (I know it’s hard to see in this picture) I fell in love!  Stripes and varsity looking bombers just aren’t my taste but this jacket definitely is!  I have a size S and I’d say it runs pretty true to size.

Tartet A New Day Khaki vest

Military Vest ($29.99)  I really like this piece just to give a little more interest to a basic t-shirt and jeans.  Here I have it with a short sleeve shirt, but as the weather gets cooler I plan to pair it with long sleeve t-shirts or sweaters.  I love the draw strings around the waist that let me control the look it gives (I prefer more fitted).

Target Who What Wear ruffle sleeveless blouse

Ruffle sleeveless blouse ($22.99)

This blouse was another item I actually purchased in store.  I’m seeing so much of these ruffles and I loved this pattern (it goes so well with jeans).  With the weather still being warm I love this as something I can wear now without a jacket, and then throw a layer over it when it gets cooler.  This is a size S and it runs true to size.

I hope you got some ideas for your fall wardrobe.  Have you been shopping at Target lately?  What have you been loving?

My Rose Gold Obsession – How to Rock the Trend

Rose gold - the obsession is real

With Spring here I am LOVING all the blush/rose gold colored EVERYTHING.   This color is the new neutral of spring and can be achieved so easily with a few key pieces.  Read on to see some great clothing/accessories I have found to achieve this look!

Rose Gold Aviator style glasses from Ann Taylor LOFT.

Rose Gold Aviators – (LOFT) – What better way to accessorize all my other blush color finds than with a pair of rose gold sunglasses!  I stumbled on these at LOFT on sale a few months ago but have been wearing non-stop lately.  Unfortunately, these are not on their website and I’m not sure if it is still in stores.  There are, however, similar styles available and some are on sale!

Kendra Scott Elisa necklace  (NORDSTROM) – This delicate necklace is right up my ally and has dozens of color/metal combinations to choose from.  The one I have is called Iridescent drusy and rose gold.  This is the perfect necklace for the spring!  It has the rose gold chain and the center stone is a sparkly iridescent.  The length can be adjusted to suit my fancy and I’ve already gotten compliments on this one.

Adidas Superstar (they call it copper but it’s rose gold) – I have not really ever been a sneaker person but in the past few months, now that I am not working in an office and heading to the gym more often, this has become more of a mainstream accessory for me.  When I saw this style on one of the YouTube channels I watch my interest was instantly piqued.  This sneaker is HARD to get!  Nordstrom was sold out and many other online retailers I checked out did not have the rose gold color in my size.  I found a website (sheikh.com) that did have them and quickly ordered.  Shortly after I saw that they were back in stock on Nordstrom briefly, then sold out again.  I am so glad I was able to snag a pair! If you are in the market for these shoes, it’s recommended you size down one size.

Bomber jacket – pink

Gap blush jacket/sweater – I love this sweater from the GAP not only because of the color, but the weight and weave is perfect as we transition into Spring.  It goes with so much – I love with denim as shown in the picture, but I’ve also been wearing with light grey skinny jeans and can’t wait to pair it with some distressed white jeans!  I also got the bomber jacket which I’ve been wanting for awhile, but it’s beautiful in the blush color!  This looks great with black distressed jeans and a black tank.  Add the Adidas tennis shoes and you’ve got the perfect Spring look.

Rose Gold Bracelet– found these adorable bangles on Nordstrom, called Mantra Bands.  They are adjustable to the size of your wrist which I love.  They come in silver, gold and rose gold and of course I bought the latter.  There are a bunch of inspiring quotes on each one and you can select the ones that are most meaningful or inspiring to you.  Mine says “Live Laugh Love.”

Calia sports bra and tank – Ive carried the blush pink trend even to the gym!  If you checkout out my article on the athleisure trend and what brands I’ve been loving, you know I listed Calia (Carrie Underwood’s brand) as one of them.  I found this beautiful blush pink sport bra and tank top on sale at Dick’s Sporting Goods a few weeks ago and love them!

I hope you are all enjoying Spring whatever trends you are following.  Leave a comment and let me know what you are loving this Spring!  If you found the tips helpful please like and share!
